Grey Linseed Oil Wax

Sale price$32.95

Size: 200 mL
Description

Allbäck's Linseed Oil Wax can be used on all absorbent surfaces such as wood, concrete, brick, slate, furniture, and more. It is also ideal for the maintenance of previously painted matte surfaces.

Linseed Oil Wax is made from purified linseed oil, beeswax, and natural pigment. The oil and the wax are boiled together so that the beeswax is incorporated as the linseed oil dries.

The wax provides a water-repellent, silky matte finish that can be cleaned with a weak solution of Linseed Soap and water.

Make your own shade by mixing the different colours of linseed oil wax with each other.

Application

Apply with a sponge, cloth, or stiff brush. Allow to penetrate the surface. Wipe off excess with a clean cloth.

Coverage

40 m² per litre (430 sqft per litre), depending on the substrate.

Drying time

Approximately 24 hours at room temperature, with good ventilation and low humidity. It may take longer to dry on knots in the wood. Fully cures within about 2 weeks.

Instructions for floors

Waxing untreated wooden floors is a simple, fast, and lasting treatment. The linseed oil wax absorbs into the wood and prevents water from penetrating.

  • Wash dirty floors with Linseed Soap and water. Use a wet vacuum to remove the water.
  • Allow to dry. Sand with fine sand paper any fibres that appear (approx. 180 grit).
  • Apply the wax with a scouring sponge. Work into the wood in the direction of the grain, a few boards at a time. Leave the wax to be absorbed for about 15-20 minutes. Wipe away any excess with a towel within an hour.
  • The treatment is complete!

You can touch/walk on the surface right away. Footprints can be wiped off as you walk out of the room. Too much wax will produce a sticky surface with an uneven sheen and will take longer to dry.

Note : Linseed Oil Wax gives different results on different surfaces. Test first.

Blown away

I have been blown away by both the customer service (Sage has answered every question through phone or email with a detailed and helpful answer) and the products they carry. I have purchased a variety of products to start learning about how use them properly and different applications. I had an order show up incorrect and they went above and beyond to make it right.

The products are very high quality combined with their technical knowledge helps someone learning how use these unbelievable materials made me want to take a chance on buying and using them.

I am very satisfied and will continue to use and learn.

Excellent customer service and advice

This year I had the opportunity to make the switch from plastic, petroleum-based paint and varnish to quality, sustainable, consistent, and more historically accurate products, thanks to Sage Restoration. Our restoration team at California State Parks have restored windows at the Leland Stanford Mansion, windows at a historic railyards building, built a historically recreated sign, along with other projects using their purified linseed oils, paints, glazing putty and infrared paint removers. We have not only had the chance to use these products but have benefitted from the excellent customer service and advice given when consulting with them when making this transition. It is great to share this resource when I teach trade classes with other California State Parks employees. With the help of Sage restoration, we feel like better stewards of our historic buildings.

Dry, dull, weathered wood furniture, take a seat!

Dry, dull, weathered wood furniture, take a seat! Sage Restoration’s Allbäck line offers picture-perfect protection to bring listless wood furniture back to life.

My first restoration project began by cleaning decades of ingrained dirt off an old wood chair and bench set using Allbäck Linseed Soap. The soap was impressive at removing the old dirt while still being gentle enough on your hands while working. Next, I used Allbäck Purified Raw Linseed Oil which seeped seamlessly and penetrated into the very thirsty wood, delivering restorative rejuvenation. I finished by rubbing a coat of Natural Linseed Oil Wax to offer some water protection from the outside elements.

I love that Sage Restoration offers high-quality brands, such as Allbäck, with natural ingredients that make the products safe and easy to use. I highly recommend!

Love every product that I have tried

Love every product that I have tried. It has been a wonderful line of products for our 1840s home both interior and exterior. Love the natural smell and compatibility of paint prime and putty. Now our home has the proper restoration that will last so much longer than hardware store paint or tacky siding. Thank you for supplying such a great product.

Love this product! Used it on an antique chest of drawers I had striped. It has brought out the grain of the wood and is a beautiful rich chestnut brown. The product was easy to apply and clean up after I had applied it. It smells good too. Very happy!
