Description

Purified Boiled Linseed Oil is a refined, cold-pressed linseed oil, used as a surface finish on unpainted, varnished, or painted wooden surfaces that are clean and dry. The oil is easy to apply with a brush, sponge, or cloth. Raw linseed oil will not dry, but when boiled, it will dry and form a protective surface finish.

Uses
  • Thinning linseed oil paint.
  • Maintenance of old linseed painted surfaces.
  • First coat on very dried out wood.
Drying time

Approximately 24 hours.

Cleanup

Allbäck Linseed Soap and water.

Notes
  1. Differences in the colour tone of linseed oil from batch to batch are a result of the growing and harvesting conditions of a particular season. It is not a result of processing and has no particular bearing on the quality of the oil.
  2. Under the right conditions, rags soaked in linseed oil may self-ignite. Soak oily rags in water before disposing of them.

Love every product that I have tried

Love every product that I have tried. It has been a wonderful line of products for our 1840s home both interior and exterior. Love the natural smell and compatibility of paint prime and putty. Now our home has the proper restoration that will last so much longer than hardware store paint or tacky siding. Thank you for supplying such a great product.

Excellent customer service and advice

This year I had the opportunity to make the switch from plastic, petroleum-based paint and varnish to quality, sustainable, consistent, and more historically accurate products, thanks to Sage Restoration. Our restoration team at California State Parks have restored windows at the Leland Stanford Mansion, windows at a historic railyards building, built a historically recreated sign, along with other projects using their purified linseed oils, paints, glazing putty and infrared paint removers. We have not only had the chance to use these products but have benefitted from the excellent customer service and advice given when consulting with them when making this transition. It is great to share this resource when I teach trade classes with other California State Parks employees. With the help of Sage restoration, we feel like better stewards of our historic buildings.

Durable, beautiful finish

We used all sage restoration products on our pack porch. The boards were aged in the sun for a few weeks after construction, then scrubbed with linseed oil soap. Primed with raw linseed oil after drying and then treated with Dalbrand Tratjara pine tar mixed with boiled linseed oil. The black border boards were treated Svartjara pine tar mixed with the same. It’s easy to use, easy to apply, durable and the results speak for themselves. We’ve tried to use various wax stains, or acrylic coatings in the past which ultimately resulted in rebuilding the entire project after the boards shrank/rotted. If you want a durable, beautiful finish that will keep your wood vibrant and sturdy Sage restoration is the way to go.

Perfect

We ordered linseed oil and pine tar from Sage to protect the wooden shed my wife and I just built together. The products are absolutely perfect and delivery was extremely fast. We will order again when we build our solar passive off grid house next year.
